The parentals flew in on June 3rd and, up until the moment they arrived, I was quite the nervous wreck.
Anyone who’s been following my blog for some time would know that I’ve had a rather shaky relationship with my parents in the past couple of years. So, although it was I who had invited them to fly in for my graduation commencement, I dreaded spending time with them.
I was completely overreacting about the whole thing, it turns out. Much to my surprise and elation, I’ve had nothing but a great time since their arrival. They’ve been really kind and warm towards the boyfriend, making more of an effort to speak to him. They’ve also been respectful of my relationship with him, nor have they tried to intrude upon my life in any way. The only thing that continues to drive me crazy is how my mom keeps trying to bring me food and items that I don’t need when there is no room for even most of what I already have. How the hell do you fault a woman for loving you too much that she can’t heed your requests to stop feeding you?
We’ve been showing them around SE Portland and they quickly grew fond of the area. We took them for hikes around the Columbia River Gorge, which they’ve immensely enjoyed. Here are a few pictures from our recent hike at Dog Mountain, taken by my boyfriend.

Thank you, everyone, for being so patient when I was unable to write for a while!
My old laptop is now far too unreliable and I was unable to do much on it. As a birthday present, the boyfriend bought me a darling little MacBook to encourage me to keep drawing and painting. He wants as much as you guys to bring back Holy Crap. I don’t know what I did to deserve this wonderful man but I do feel like the luckiest girl alive.
I’ve started taking on art commissions and I’ve been having a great time. I never really did think much about doing commissions before but figured, well, why the hell not? This client found me on Reddit, where I had posted a silly cartoon.
If you want to download the wallpaper of that cartoon and the one of Bella, here they are; just click on the thumbnails and right-click to download:
Here are some more recent works.

This little window had been receiving a ton of rave reviews. Even so, whenever I saw the perpetually long line at the window, I just couldn’t see any waffle being worth the wait. I need to stop thinking that whenever I see a line anywhere in Portland as I’ve been wrong before. I was certainly wrong to think so about Waffle Window.

the Razzle Dazzle: Fresh raspberries, Berry coulis and lemon curd.

I’ve changed the tagline for the blog. Let’s face it. This publication is no longer just about beauty and makeup anymore, is it? Did I just call my blog a “publication”? Hello, Miss Uppity!
It has been over two months since we’ve moved to our new apartment. It’s strange but I feel like it’s been longer than that.
I can’t stress how small this place is, even for a one-bedroom. In Eugene, we were living in a 2-bedroom with a garage, separate kitchen and dining area, and a balcony that easily fit a cafe table and chairs. Our new home is a one-bedroom apartment with no balcony. The closet space is minimal and, even after sacrificing most of our clothes, they barely accommodate wardrobes for two people. It is evident that this apartment was designed for one tenant… and maybe a full-time nudist.
I wonder if people pity us for having downsized to such a small space. Would you be surprised to know that I’m extremely happy with the limited space?
