Purchased: November, 2009
Frequency of use:
Irregular. Once or twice a week, sometimes skip for a couple weeks, until around February. I do recall being surprised by how long the jar lasted. I didn’t think it’d even last 6 uses but it lasted much, much longer. Started using it again last week when I found a sample tube I had forgotten I’d had. I started out wearing this for 10 minutes and now I wear it for 30 minutes.

How it feels:
Gives my face a slight itchy burn. Turns the face red but it goes away soon after it’s washed off. Smells strongly of fermented apples or apple cider.
Why I like it:
1. Promoted faster healing of cystic blemishes. I really shouldn’t recommend that you use this if you have acne. I’m pretty sure the maker of this product would likewise advise against it. However, I took the risk anyway, for god knows what reason.
The dry winters, combined with various other stresses, would sometimes give me HUGE flareups on my chin. There would be multiple breakouts overlapping each other, red hot and very angry, and they would not calm down in the least for days. When it was that day of the week to use the apple peel, I didn’t avoid putting it on my chin. I expected a searing, stinging burn in that area but, nope. It didn’t feel any more or less painful than when the flareups were untouched.
The next morning, my flareup stopped hurting completely. They were still there but they no longer hurt.
I wondered if it was because of sheer coincidence. Maybe it was just time for my flareups to die down?
I haven’t had breakouts this year as often as I used to. Whenever something painful and big did pop up, though, I noticed that it quickly calmed down after an evening with the apple peel. When I got small red bumps from some other substance my skin hated, they were gone the day after I used the apple peel.
2. Clears out blackheads. I’m not even sure if this peel is meant to do this. Or maybe all exfoliating peels are? After scrubbing and using the mint julep mask, the pores between my brows and on my nose would still be filled with fatty residue and blackheads. They’d be stuck in there for days until Peel Time. Once I rinse out the green apple peel, my pores are clean and less visible.
3. Improves overall texture and color of skin. This is basically what it had promised and it does deliver. My skin just looks so much healthier the next day. The skin feels tighter and firmer and the color is more even. Even the texture seems much smoother.
Why you may not like it:
Pricey. That’s my biggest gripe about this. Despite the fact that I love how this works for me, it’s still very hard for me to just shell out $40 for a jar. I know I’ll eventually end up buying it but I’m such a cheapskate. I still need to mull it over for a bit and work myself up to it.
The Green Apple Peel retails for $45 on Sephora and the Juice Beauty website. If you use my Amazon Associates link, though, it’s $28 plus shipping and I get a little bit of commission which would help me keep this site up.
One size does not fit all. Even though I do have sensitive skin, this peel didn’t break me out or hurt too much. The itch was very, very mild. It is a peel, after all. However, others find that this formula is too strong. Some even say this breaks them out. Juice Beauty offers another Green Apple Peel for sensitive skin. Whichever one you end up buying, you might want to do a spot test, first.
Also, I personally have a hard time believing that, just because my skin loves this peel, that yours will, too. Even as I write this, I have a hard time believing the results myself.
So, would I buy this again? Absolutely.

“Fatty residue”–yummy! Thanks for the review!
I’m having those angry zits on my chin right now. I may give this a try if returning to Z Mei doesn’t work anymore. Thanks for the review, Alienman!
gah i have zits popping up randomly all the time..then a week of nice skin..then bad skin…
too bad this product is $40..ouch @_@
but if it DOES do wonders, my skin is worth it. and that link u gave is a good price lol
i might actually get it….i needa read the reviews first…
thanks for sharing! im always in dire need to make my skin happy xD lol
Sounds good, but my acne is so bad lately, I’m afraid that it might BUUUUURRRN!! LOL!
I totally love the Green Apple Peel! I got it as part of the Organics to clear skin kit. I have sensitive skin and break out all the time. However when is started using the Kit and especially the peel i noticed a dramatic difference in my skin! I do not break out anymore (the occasional pimple does come but quickly goes away with the peel).
For people that are worried about it burning, it may as you near the 10 minutes but just wash it off early.
IMPORTANT-if you have sensitive skin i reccommend using at night. I used in the morning one time and my face had a slight red tint for about 20 minutes!
sounds good! do you know if they do any smaller/tester sizes? Hope you don’t mind but linked you on my blog! x
Thanks, A! I hear Whole Foods offers smaller sizes. I did get a test size with a gift set once but that’s about all I know. You might ask Juice Beauty on twitter!
Juice Beauty’s Green Apple Peel is my favorite and I use it for both my hormonal breakouts (I’m in my 40′s and STILL getting breakouts) and to take care of my wrinkles. Since I can only afford to buy one power product…I choose this one because it’s powerful and I love all the pure organic ingredients. My Sephora used to carry it and told me it was a bestseller because of all those celebrity write ups but now I think it’s at Whole Foods and juicebeauty.com.
