Two months ago, I attempted to dye my hair so that the grown-out roots would blend with my considerably lighter ends which still retained the color from last year’s dye job. Sadly, all it did was make my ends and roots lighter while leaving the entire middle part hardly changed at all.

Good god, is that what my hair looked like?! Why didn't anyone tell meeeeeeee!! This is why I need friends... so lonely... and so cold... . Hello? Anybody out there?
I purchased this Dariya Palty dye in Cherry Creamy at Uwajimaya.
At first, I balked at the $11 price tag but, if this worked, it would be so much better than a $70 salon job.

Based on the chart, I didn’t expect a huge change overall. Sure, I had some lightened hair but most of it was still a dark brown.
Again, here’s the before. Please, don’t EVER let me go around looking like this again!
After keeping it in for 30 minutes, here is my new hair color:
I was surprised by how even the color was from the top to the bottom, even though they varied so much before the application. I was also surprised at how light my hair got. The box certainly didn’t promise it.
This color totally works out for me but I can see how frustrating it might be for someone who’s very specific about the color they expect. Also, the rumors are true: One box was hardly enough for my thinned shoulder-length hair. If your hair is anything longer than mine, you’ll need an extra box. That’s another $11.
For a hair color that I happen to really like, $11 is not bad at all, especially if you compare it to the $70 I would be paying at a salon. Even if I needed another box, it would be a better price and I know I could rely on this way more than any other at-home dye kit I’ve tried.
So, it looks like I’ll be using Dariya Palty again. Questions? Comments? Drop me a line below.

Wow glad to see it worked out so well for you. I was tempted to try out Palty, but I went with Prettia instead (which I liked!). I love your results though so I might have to try out Palty next time (when my dark colored hair finally gets snipped off). Thanks for the review!
Ooh, Palty’s usual packaging (that I can find here in Singapore) has a cute girl cartoon on it; this is the first time I’m seeing an alternative packaging!
I’ve used Palty before but found the smell a little too strong … it’s quite gentle on hair though (compared to perming – I’ve permed hair right now and lots of it is breaking at where the grown roots are!) as my hair didn’t really get very fried from colouring.
One thing odd about Palty is that if you dye a colour over Palty (I dyed jet black), the colour above will fade and reveal the light Palty colour! Maybe it’s got to do with some fiddly chemistry about semi-permanent and permanent, which only colourists will know for sure.
Yesssssss I’ve been eyeing Palty for a while!
But it lightens my hair, soooo..
I’ve just been using Feria’s for dark hair only, the ultra lightening ash browns, but the “ash” aspect of the color washes out within a week…and i’m left with brassiness again
I think the color I want is milk tea or something like that..
wow, your hair looks so glam – i feel like i’m watching one of those hair ads on tv (loreal, revlon, etc) all i need to see is a pic of you mid-hair toss
thanks for the advice re: eczema. the doctor gave me a prescription and put me on an antihistamine regimen, so my skin is back to normal, but still with the occasional dryness.
ahhh sooo pretty! I get urges to color my hair but I’m too brown and too lazy to keep it looking nice. but maybe one day i’ll give in- like when I see 10 strands of gray hair THEN i’m going blonde
The color looks lovely on you. I think I’ve given up dyeing my hair now. Too much of a hassle…
That’s how I felt before I dyed my hair too! Like why didn’t anyone tell me it looked like a fricken JELL-O Pudding cup?! The layered ones?! LOL! But your hair turned out great! I hear good things about the Palty, & it’s actually easily accessible for me too!
? tho… is it drying? Cuz half the time hair dyes dry me locks out. That’s why I only use the Loreal Preference for Brunettes.
Yea, it’s definitely drying and I think it’s giving me split ends. Looks like I’ll have to invest in a good hair serum.
Ooh, Palty’s girl my favorite (that I can find in Singapore watsons) has a cute girl cartoon on it; and they have Palty’s men wax colour also.
I’ve used the new packing of Palty’s … so good …….moisturizing hair dye with a fresh fruity fragrance .
** smooth, shiny and beautiful hair!
Hello there
What is your opinion of Palty (..about 6 months since dye job) now?
Bought 2 boxes of Palty..kind of nervous about permanent dyes. I have being using semi-permanent types..
Dawn: I do like the colors and they seem to stay looking good without fading or changing (as far as I can tell). However, each box seemed hardly enough to cover my entire hair and my hair isn’t all that long :/ The first time I did it, it was just barely enough for all my hair. The second time, my friend added water to spread it more and it worked like a charm. For $11, I wasn’t too happy with the amount but I did like how easy it was to use and how well it worked.
Hi, may i ask where did you get Palty from? In singapore?
Melisa: Hi there! I’m in the US and I get mine from the Uwajimaya superstore in Beaverton, OR.
I love Palty hair color! I almost tried all hair coloring brands but it didn’t give me satisfaction…only palty made my hair into life…(-:
awesome colour! i bought it here in canada in asian supermarkets like T&T (a taiwanese market)
I want to try this however I have permanent dyed hair from the ear lobes down (my hair has the same length as yours) and I’m wondering if it will still result in one color all over? The color is hardly noticeable really unless if reflected by sunlight, just did it to cover some grays. any input in this or is this for virgin hair only?
Dana,
If you look at my first couple photos, you can see how my ends and roots are drastically different in color. If your color is not as noticeable as mine is, you should be fine. Good luck!
