This little window had been receiving a ton of rave reviews. Even so, whenever I saw the perpetually long line at the window, I just couldn’t see any waffle being worth the wait. I need to stop thinking that whenever I see a line anywhere in Portland as I’ve been wrong before. I was certainly wrong to think so about Waffle Window.
The Waffle Window is literally a window on a wall at the corner of SE 36th and Hawthorne. From what I understand, they offer indoor seating inside the Bread and Ink Cafe, which shares the same wall. I’ve never been inside. On the two occasions that we have been there, there was outdoor seating available and the weather was perfect for eating outside.
The line moves pretty quickly and the orders come out pretty fast, too. The waffles themselves…
Pure delicious wafflicious delicious goodness.
The waffles are soft and chewy inside, while the outside is sweet and crunchy, as if candy-coated . They come in savory or sweet combinations and, for an extra $1, you can select an a al mode option. In some options, the fruit is local and seasonal. The creams are fresh, fluffy and milky and the fruit so plentiful. My god. Every bite I took was pure and utter bliss.
And how much does one pay for a plate of pure bliss?
$4.

the Banana Rumba: Fresh sliced bananas, banana caramel sauce, whipped cream, granola crunch topping.

I LOVE WAFFLES
AND WHIPPED CREAM
AND CARBOCIDE.
This is one of my top places to go when I’m in Portland!!!
And the grilled cheese truck, and anything else involving food.
The last picture of the hot fudge waffle kills me

OMG, if I ever visit you, you. have. to. take. me. there!!
Otherwise, I’m going to have to try and be creative here with our household waffle iron to try to re-create these yummy concoctions witnessed by you and your camera.
wow, it’s like an orgasm on a waffle
so… i think i should really go visit you so we can eat together.
Ooh… I’m trying to swallow my own saliva because otherwise my laptop would shortcircuit… It all looks sooooo good! These pictures alone makes me want to go to Portland…and maybe because you live there too
