Minor update

This past month has been riddled with little slices of hell, much of which was related to our housing situation. To summarize, what was supposed to be a six-month deal was cut short. This past several weeks, we were suddenly faced with a deadline to move out before April 1st. The boyfriend was out of town for a week and that gave us even less time to look for a rental on such short notice.

After much stressful scrambling to find a new home, we finally signed a lease on Tuesday. It was fortunate we’d found this place. We were so desperate that we were on the verge of applying for a studio, two houses down from our current house. The studio is g0rgeous, new and eco-consciously built but lacks soundproofing. They are also in the process of building a brewpub in the same building, adjacent to the studio. I shudder at the thought of the noise we would have had to endure, and the lack of privacy from wandering bar patrons. In contrast, our new home is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood.

Moving Day is on the 27th and I’m already eager to leave right away. Too much has kept me away from all the projects I’d hoped to complete weeks ago. I’m looking forward to getting back on track with the writing and illustrating.

We’ll still be in Portland, but in a different neighborhood. You will see lots of photos from SE Hawthorne and SE Belmont, as our new home will be nestled in between the two bustling shop-filled streets. I hope the Mean Racist Troll Kid doesn’t follow me all the way there with his stupid trampoline.

Glad you found a place! Its good you found something other than that studio. I’ve lived above stores before (next to a cafe-bar thingy) and it wasn’t pleasant.

I didn’t know landlords could just give you such a short deadline :/ Hope your move goes as smoothly as possible!

I hope moving wouldn’t be a pain in the butt… mine was. I’m so happy you found a place to live. I know how hard it can be. :)

Yay! I shuddered at the idea of not having sound-proofing home. My apartment does not have really good sound-proofing and I pretty much can hear my neighbor coming in and out of the apartment. But on second thought, you can always have loud s*x to make up to the lack of sound-proofing, right? Right? ;)

Good job finding a new place on such short notice! That must’ve been so frustrating. I actually wouldn’t mind living adjacent to a bar but the lack of privacy would’ve sent me over the edge. I would’ve become an alcoholic for sure…maybe that’s the whole point….it’s a conspiracy! Also, racist troll kid will get his just-desserts; he seems way too unstable to survive. Has he been constantly bothering you even after that one incident you told us about (where he was yelling vulgar things at you and you put him in his place)?

what the heck… that is some bad biz practice to cut a lease short with little notice. bullcrap -_- but i’m glad you got housing figured out quickly! i bet you’ve got a lot of other things on your plate too. i pray4u (isn’t that a kpop song?) then :)

What?! Why were you guys “forced” out so quickly?! Anywhoo I’m glad that you were able to find a nice place in time. Away from the “wandering bar patrons”! LOL! But it sucks that you have to move AGAIN so soon. *sigh* Good thing you and the man are awesome peeps that can do anything! :D

Wow, glad you found a new home on such short notice! Cutting a lease short is not cool at all. I hope your landlord compensated you appropriately.
