I am in love with Portland. Sure, the rain gets relentless and quite depressing, especially when combined with the early nightfall. However, once I stopped letting that keep me from enjoying the area, I found myself almost overwhelmed with things to do and see, and places to go. Of course, everything is better when there is sun. Thursday was an unusually beautiful day in the middle of a very dark and rainy week.

Snowy Mt. Saint Helens in the far distance. It looks even bigger in person. All photos in this blog entry are © me unless otherwise stated. I have skipped the process of watermarking so as not to compromise the aesthetic quality of the images. Please do not take these without permission unless it's for your own personal, private viewing pleasure.

I especially love the area where I live. We’re very close to Portland City Center, as well as all kind of shopping, dining and other local flavors. The “up and coming” Alberta Arts District is an especially charming cluster of shops, galleries and eateries that has quickly won our hearts. Expect many photos of this area soon.
Just fifteen minutes away from our house is Rocky Butte. At the top of it is James Woodhill Park, which looks like a stone lookout fortress built at the top of the butte. You get a great view of Portland, Camas and Washington State. It’s hard believe this place is right in the city, just 20 minutes from the heart of the metropolis.

The sun was setting when we got there. It was only 4pm T_T

Hey, I didn't know remember seeing gargoyles at the fort... oh, wait. That's me. Photo taken by boyfriend. Click on image to go to his Flickr.
Oregon is very photogenic. Even for an inexperienced non-photographer like me, it’s so easy to take beautiful shots with a point-and-shoot. These pictures pretty much take themselves. Of course, it does help to have a really good point-and-shoot like my Canon G9. I absolutely love this camera.

Mt. Saint Helens
You can see Mt. Saint Helens to the North and Mt. Hood to the East. You don’t really have to be at a high altitude to see these mountains but it sure does upgrade the view when you can see the whole city at the same time.

Mt. Hood

Hope you guys enjoyed the pictures. I really missed sharing some Oregon photos here since the weather got so cold and rainy here. It’s nice to be posting some nature-made eye candy again. You know how much I love Oregon!

Ann: Don’t believe that girls are “more emotional” than guys. We’re just expected to express it more because boys are taught to suppress it. It’s not a healthy code by which to live, though. In truth – and you probably feel this, too – we women aren’t really encouraged to show our emotions, either. We get demeaned for it and are told that we’re being irrational, hormonal, and overly emotional. This trivializes the situations that lead to the emotions. It is important to find outlets to vent and that can be the tough part for us.
Klaudea: Haha, you and Macnunu should plan a road trip together to visit. Remember, Oregon offers ZERO sales tax! We have some awesome outlet malls
Dao: OMG I loooove my G9. Everyday, I appreciate her more and more. She takes awesome outdoor photos and macro shots.
marlene: Thanks!! The boyfriend uses the Nikon D90. You should check out his Flickr!
