I think one year is a long enough time for a cleanser-review hiatus, don’t you?
I don’t know about you guys but I’ve just about have had enough with these long ass names that promise us more than what the products have to offer. “Ultimate”? “NeuroWhite”? “Blanc Expert”? “X3″? Give me a break. It’s a foam cleanser, for crying out loud.

This product retails for about $40 (give or take) and is available only in Asian markets. The only reason my pauper-ass had the chance to try this out was because it was part of a 2-piece gift set that my brother got me from the Duty Free in Japan. I’m sorry to say, I’m not even using the toner because of its alcohol content. The cleanser has alcohol, too, but I’ve been using it since it’s meant to be washed off and followed with moisturizer. The toner stays on the skin, though, and the alcohol would definitely irritate my super-sensitive skin.
Pros:
- A little goes a long way. I think I’ve had this cleanser for about a year now. I haven’t been using it everyday, but it has still lasted me remarkably long time.
- The foam is very thick. I’m not sure if that makes a cleanser any better but I like my foam cleansers to be very frothy.
- A nickel-sized amount gets the makeup out really well. Best way to get your makeup off – dampen face first, then wash hands with soap to remove dirt and makeup, foam up the cleanser between hands, then massage into face for about a minute.
- Hasn’t caused any irritation or dryness. Between this and the Shiseido foaming cleanser, I actually prefer this one because it doesn’t strip moisture as much. At the same time, it gets all the makeup out in one application, as with the Shiseido brand.
Cons:
- Too expensive. Forty bucks for one bottle? Go eff yourself. At fifty bucks, the damn thing should be turning my skin into sheer and utter perfection. I should be waking up one day and seeing the most exquisitely perfect skin on my face and thinking, “well, that was worth the fifty bucks.” Babies should be jealous of how great my skin is. At the least, it should be whitening, which brings me to the next bullet point.
- Doesn’t whiten as promised. It might be part of a line of whitening products but the cleanser doesn’t whiten. You could have saved some ink and space leaving out “whitening” from the name of the cleanser. Maybe you could have used that extra money to upgrade that flimsy lid.
- Too expensive.
- Cheap packaging. The cap broke soon after I started using it. Now, it never closes completely. Real pain in the ass.
- Too expensive.
The price tag is off-putting, especially since it comes in cheap packaging and doesn’t whiten as promised. However, if you don’t care about cost and you want a foaming cleanser that removes stubborn makeup on in wash and doesn’t dry out your skin, then this might be for you.
I give this a B+.

Aw, not another dud =[
Can I give you a cleanser suggestion? I use and really like Philosophy Purity Made Simple face wash. It doesn’t claim to do anything remarkable like skin whitening or pimple blasting BUT it doesn’t irritate my face at all and takes off all my makeup.
I kind of feel like a lot of cleansers promise too much; a proper cleanser should just clean the crap off your face. I’ve also found that the bigger sized bottle has lasted me over a year with daily use (but I only use it at night to remove my makeup). I recently graduated up to the SUPERSIZE bottle which should last me a couple years.
You can get the small travel size (which lasts a pretty long time as well) for around $10 at Sephora if you’re interested. It’s probably the one skin care product that I haven’t flip flopped between other brands because I’ve found it so effective. But of course YMMV and all that!
LOL Another Kiss My Ass review! Love it! At least you’re honest and that’s what counts! But I hate when shit is $$$$ And still doesn’t work… That sucks!
Wow $40 dollars for a cleanser is insane! I’ll stick with my $6 dollar face wash, thank you lol…I know this may be a stupid question, but what do these whitening cleansers do? Do they bleach your skin or something?
Wow. That’s way too much money for me, especially for a cleanser. Have you ever tried Naive? I think those cleansers are pretty good. It lathers up real nice and I only need a pin-drop sized amount so a little tube lasts forever. I need to go out and get one.
That’s why I stick to cheap drug store cleaners by Olay, L’Oreal, etc.!!
Another ass kissing cleanser, and one that costs $40 at that!
I’ll send you some of the Lush cleansers that I use for you to try out, see how that works out for you, cos the problem with cleansers in the winter months is that you want a cleanser that doesn’t dry you out yet cleanses effectively. The one that I’m using now does just that (well for me it does, but might just kiss your ass xD)
With regards to whitening, I don’t think ANY cleanser out there actually whitens, I think the whitening ingredient is only in the moisturisers and treatments T.T. They just take any old cleanser, stick a label on it and claim that it’s part of the ‘Whitening’ line/
Are your completely moved into your new place yet?
Mary: Ooh, I thought I replied to this, but I guess not! I’m actually testing out the Philosophy one real soon! I’m currently using Juice Beauty Green Apple Cleansing Gel.
MACnunu: I can’t wait to try out the Lush cleansers tonight xD Thank youuuu <3
Thanks for the comments and suggestions, guys
