Happy Holidays, everyone! I hope your winter season is filled with joy and that your 2010 comes with many a fortune and dreams come true.
I decided to give the Illamasqua Rich Liquid Foundation in 135 another try, in spite of my own apprehensions, and the boyfriend’s feedback. I wanted to be paler for the winter but I felt that maybe this foundation was too pale. The responses to my last FOTD were overwhelmingly in favor of the foundation, though, and I must admit, I too liked how my face alone looked. When ignoring the darker yellow of the rest of my body, I quite liked the color of the foundation.
Also, the color seems to match better after applying some bronzer and blush, and after letting the foundation set for a while.

Come hither, my pretties. Fall into my trap. This was taken about 6 hours after application, just before I washed it off.

This was taken right after applying the 135. Uh... the effects of tungsten and incandescent are far too different and I can't seem to find a happy medium.
That’s all I have for you today for the FOTD. I’ve been breaking out a severe lot lately. You can see the two huge bumps on my chin and blemishes on my cheeks. That’s why I’m holding Pooky Bear in the first photo. Sorry about the inconvenience T_________T The breakouts could be due to any of, or all of, the following reasons: I’ve been eating a LOT of crappy junk food. I’ve been sleeping terribly irregular hours. My skin might not be responding well to the Juice Beauty skincare kit I started using last week. I’m back to drinking blended blueberries, even though it’s freezing cold.

I shall spare you from my garlic breath!!

Hey, on the bright side, I can show off my foundation, eye makeup AND my nail polish at the same time. Why the hell does my hand look huge and mannish here... It's like some cross-dresser sneaked up behind me and touched my face. Awesome.
A wise woman once said to me, “You know you need a haircut when the ponytail becomes your default hairstyle.” Truer words were never spoken.
I think I’m going to save this foundation for my next trip to Korea, where women often wear foundation that’s several shades paler than their bodies. In the meantime, I’m still shopping for a winter foundation.
I finished knitting my scarf for my advisor Lyllye and I’ve finished another scarf since. I’m currently working on a third scarf.

I got the pattern from here. I had been saving this Patons SWS Natural Pink yarn for a long time because I wasn’t sure of what pattern to knit, nor was I sure if a cable knit would look good with this.
It took me a couple of weeks to finish. It took me so long because I was studying finals at the same time. Most of my readings were online and I found that keeping my hands busy with the knitting helped me focus on the readings. It was either that or keep stuffing my face with cheddar cheese potato chips. The latter was giving me acne.
I then ruined the scarf by carelessly tossing it into the washer and dryer, thereby accidentally felting it and turning it into a hardened fuzzy strip. I did not take photos of it afterward. You do not want to see what it looks like now…

It’s always easier to blame someone else. Since no one else was around, I’ll blame the demon that possessed my cat.

Look out! It's Demon Cat!

Ahh! Demon Cat is going Emily Rose on us!

Demon Cat: BLEHHH!!! I WILL SHOOT HAIRBALLS IN YOUR FACE BLEHHH BLEEEHHHHH
Little did I know Demon Cat was cursing the scarf to fall into a felted demise.

Nobody wanna play wid Alienmang...
I am alienman. Writing a small blurb about myself is the hardest thing to do. "Blurb" is a funny word.
GoldfishCake is NOT accepting sponsors or advertising at this time.

oh illamasqua, how i wish we had you in canada
anyway my winter foundation at the moment is a cheapie maybelline foundie, and MUFE HD in 120. (actually it seems Im more of a 25 or was it a 27? but I didn’t realize that the numbers didn’t mean the order of the foundation! esh…)
it seem to work alright for me, but its always nice to find a perfect! foundie. just makes the world go round so nicely…
what the heck am i saying?! lol I woke up 30 mins ago…i blame that.
anyway merry christmas!!
hope that its a lovely one over there^^
I think you look gorgeous and mysterious!
Merry Christmas, and stay warm!!
I am staging a rally in protest of that censored photo!I like that first photo, are you getting gothloli on us with that whole teddy bear plus jailbait face?
Aww I missed the crazy antics of Bella xD.
I’ve never been brave enough to attempt a cable knit, maybe I should do it this winter, it’ll be finished in time for summer then.
you are so pweetty. i wanna play with you!!! <3
btw i'm not sure if you mentioned this before, my stalking tells me you didn't, but i know that you mentioned the foundation doesn't match your skin coloring… but what do you think of the texture, coverage and the feel of the foundation on your face?
(goes to check if you did mention it)
no no i don't see much on it.
*honk*
Here here, I’m playing with you! (rubbing Alienman’s belly as if she were a cat!)
I love that SWS yarn, too. A lot of peeps compared it to the overpriced Noro yarn but sadly, a lot of SWS colors are being discontinued. It felts really really well and I don’t want to see your ruined scarf. You must be devastated.
Thank you, for your comments everyone
Boyfriend tried to make me feel better by insisting it was fine and could still be worn but it’s NOT fine and it canNOT be worn. It’s stiff and hideously fuzzy and heavy, like a rug!! The one thing that made me feel better was when Bella turned it into her personal binky. She was all over it like it was her new favorite thing in the world LOL.
Dao: I was sooo devastated and so upset
Sooji: Yea, not yet. I wanted to wear it a few more times before writing a final review on it. So far, I find that it comes out of the bottle like liquid but applies like powder… or even chalk :/ and it’s not very easy to apply evenly. You have to go over it over and over again until you do. Also, although it seems great for taking pictures, it is actually unflattering in person
It gathers around my nose, streaks and clumps on my combination dry skin and it makes my zits even more noticeable by emphasizing the broken skin around it!
I’ll write a proper review on it, with detailed photos, just for you! In the meantime, I’m still on my quest for the right winter foundation. *honk*
Mcnunu: The cable knit is SUPER easy. All you need is a cable needle, slip some stitches into it, knit the next stitches as usual, then bring the cable needle over and knit the slipped stitches. I didn’t know you knitted! You should post pix.
Ras: I really, really want to try the MUFE HD but there isn’t a single vendor in Eugene and I have no idea what shade to get. What kind of skin to you have??
Hmm, I haven’t personally tried it but I’ve heard rave reviews over the new Revlon Photo Ready Foundation… It’s supposed to be the drugstore answer to MUFE’s HD. Seems it’s awesome unless you have like 40+ mature, dry skin. If you test it out let me know cause I’m curious about it.
Makeup alley had really good reviews:

POOOKIE!!!! OMG I LOVE POOKIE!!!!!!! Sooo jelly you have one!
Looks good to me woman… I see no problem with this FOTD! Demon cat! LOL! Aren’t they all? Then when they want something it’s all…. Look at me I’m so sweet and cuddly! LOL!
Hey that scarf came out really nice!
I’ve tried it back when Sephora had their Friends&Family Annual Sale. But after only using it once, I had to haul ass to go return it! I looked like a ghost! I think a ghost would have been frightened to have seen me, lol :p You’re Korean, right? I don’t think I’ve ever met a Korean with bad skin, you’re so lucky that you have smooth, creamy white skin.
I love your eyebrows, hun! It’s so thick!
Oh man that’s a lovely cable knit. I definitely have to try that. It’s unfortunate that it got all felteded.
All your hard work
Amen on the quote about hair. You know it’s getting much worse when after a while, the ponytail thing doesn’t work anymore….which happened to me. I fixed the problem though.
I think the makeup looks good on you! I like the lip color. What is it?
sorry about the scarf! how come you don’t want to exchange the foundation for a darker shade? (assuming you got it from sephora)
aww thanks for letting me know about your gift! err i haven’t gotten it yet probably because its gone to my old address as I just moved….I’ll have to bug the new tenants to see if it came. but thank you
Have a great Christmas!
blu3: O man. I completely forgot you had moved!! I hope it gets to you somehow!
I’m actually starting to like the shade. I realized that it gets darker over time. It also has amazing staying power. BAD texture and blending, though. I mixed it with BB cream today and it came out quite nicely while retaining moisture all day. I think I’ll be doing this from now on. As for why I don’t exchange it as Sephora for something better… if I did exchange it, it would be for another brand, but there isn’t a Sephora here where I could find a good brand for foundation (there’s a teeny micro-Sephora but it only carries brands like Stila and UD). I can’t bring myself to do more trials and errors with the online store.
Carol: That’s NYX Louisiana and Sephora Think Pink! The NYX lipstick is VERY vivid so I had to dab it on lightly and I still got that much color! Did you get a new haircut?! I want to see!
deeda: yea T_T I can’t even bring myself to throw it away. Cable-knitting is the shiznit LOL. Makes the craft look all expert even though it’s so easy to do!
Sophie: Glad it’s not just me that didn’t respond well to the foundation. My skin is actually really, really bad. It’s makeup (I use like 3 different concealers on the same spots) and camera magic that hide it so well. I have a lot of hyperpigmentation from severe acne in my teens and early 20s. I also have broken skin from recent breakouts. I’m so glad you like my eyebrows. They grow to twice that thickness -_- and I have to thin them out all the time to just look like that.
Wuzzy: That was my first gift ever from the boyfriend *^^*
Jen: Thanks, friend!! I’ll have to check it out at Rite Aid. They still have that return policy on makeup, right?
Phew, got so lost in responding to you guys that I forgot to say thank you for visiting even on a holiday and Merry Christmas!!
that’s such a beautiful scarf! i am sure the fuzzy/feltyness makes it unique :] hehe
haha it’s like fuzzy cardboard. awww, laura, i miss knitting with you!!
i support mcnunu’s rally in protest if your censoring. HAHA ;D alien you are lookin so on spot, for real.. it’s a stinker that you think the foundation isn’t workin for you irl
and the search continueeeessss!
my fave pics of this entry = blue devil bella and emo arienman. rofl you crack me up. hope you and the bf had a wonderful christmas!!! and have a happy new year<3
Hi Sweetie! This comment might be a little late but I wanted to wish u a belated Merry X’mas and a Happy New Year! hehe.. I love ur foundation color too and maybe it looks better after some time cause foundation does oxidize and darken with time… I think ur nails look a mad green gorgeous and U look pretty as ever! breakouts will go away so cheers to a great year ahead!!
The foundation does look better now, but yeah, it’s still a bit pale. That’s too bad about the color. Still, certainly wearable if you want to wear it.
Too bad about your lovely scarf!
