Hey, guys! Did you catch the meteor shower last night? Actually, it hasn’t occurred during the time in which I am typing this up. In a couple of hours, we’ll be bundling up in our parkas and driving over to a nearby reservoir. I hope the sky is clear by then.
I yam back! Finals were brutal but it is finally over and I am quite certain at this point that I will be graduating. It has been a hard and much too long of a journey. It has taken me 10 years to complete what others have managed to do in four. So, you can imagine how strange it feels that I am finally done with college. I thought I’d never graduate but it’s really happening.
The boyfriend and I celebrated my Last Day of Finals EVER™ by going out to sushi with another couple. We followed this with two games of bowling in which I sucked so bad that when I finally got a strike, even my opponents were happy for me. Afterward, we went out for dessert. I love double dates. It’s so cheesy, how much I love them.

I took these pictures after I got home so I’m actually wearing a different lip color from what I wore on the double date. I should have worn this one out. Nor did I wear this shawl. It was really cold in the house.
I can’t remember what foundation I wore that day. I had just received the Illamasqua Rich Liquid Foundation in the mail but the color seemed so pale and yellow that I was hesitant to wear it. I might just be wearing my usual Silk Naturals.

We’re doing Secret Santa at NoBrainer, my women’s support forum. My Secret Santa was an early bird; I haven’t even finished shopping for my recipient! She got me all the NYX lip colors and eyeliners I wanted. I couldn’t wait to try them on. Thank you, Secret Santa!
Sephora Lip Gloss in Flushed over NYX Round Lipstick in Fusion
NYX lipsticks are so inexpensive but the colors are so vibrant and opaque. I am also impressed with Sephora’s lip glosses. They’re not sticky at all, nor do they dry out my lips. The color selection is huge and they’re all so gorgeous.
A while back, one of my beauty blogging buddies had sent me this ELF Brightening Eye Color eyeshadow quad. Color me impressed. For a mere dollar, this is a great quad for a lavender smoky eye. There’s definitely more powdery fallout than I’d like but, holy crap, the whole quad costs a buck. I made my look less intense because I didn’t want to intimidate the other couple with my smoldering gaze, HAR HAR.
I got tired of wearing false lashes again. Sadly, my lashes are actually even shorter and less visible than this. You can see this much because I'm wearing Maybelline Lash Stiletto mascara. For a drugstore brand, this mascara is pretty good. Of course, nothing beats a good pair of falsies.
I’m also wearing NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Slate and… crap… I forgot what eyeliner that is up there. OMG DUN HATE ME I CAN ONLY THRIVE ON LOVE.

Now, here is a picture of me trying to look mysterious and vulnerable, but... like... sexy, too. In truth, I am an open book and I have distributed myself all over the internet for so long that there is nothing mysterious about me.

I had to censor that because… well… deep down, I still want my mother to be proud of me. I should also have added drool coming out of the corner of my well-tinted mouth.

I want to thank my advisor Lyllye for opening her arms to me on the day I first sought her, and wiping away my tears while telling me that she would help me graduate. I want to thank my amazing boyfriend, who dragged my kicking and screaming butt to every single one of my classes, making sure I stayed motivated to finish every term. I also want to thank my parents for loving me enough to ease up on the pressure and just let me pursue my happiness by my own means and my own choices.
I want to thank my readers who have not given up on GoldfishCake, in spite of the lack of content in the past months. Your words of encouragement have brought me smiles when times were especially tough this past term. You’ve always been an amazing group of people and I consider myself very fortunate that my blog readers are a particularly witty, silly and thoughtful group. I swear, I haven’t deleted the dumb comments or anything.
I want to thank the ladies of NoBrainer. I remember when I first put together that forum. I was worried, for a while, that it might not be a conducive environment for us to be open, honest and helpful to one another. However, it became more than what I had hoped it would be. You ladies have been so supportive to each other and to me when I needed it most. I don’t know about you guys, but I’ve always had a hard time finding Asian-American women whom I could trust and befriend at a long-term, intimate level. Yet, somehow, I have managed to find the most trustworthy friends in all the members of NoBrainer and I can’t express enough how grateful I am.
I also want to thank Costco for just being all around awesome.
