Omagadddddddddd love love love love love China Glaze’s intensely glittery nail polish.

I was obsessed with getting intensely glittery, sparkly nail polish for a while.
It’s RFC’s fault, really. Did you see her Cleopatra post? After seeing that, how do you NOT want something that glitters and sparkles like that.
So, I added Medallion to my recent nail polish haul. I’m not sure why I chose Medallion over Cleopatra. Both look gorgeous and Cleopatra’s warmer shade of gold might be better suited for the fall season. Maybe I just wanted something bright because I had also ordered Spellbound which is a very glittery metallic rust-orange top coat. I’ll test that one out for you guys next week.

At first, I was a bit put off by how bright the gold color was. Also, I had to apply many layers so as not to leave any gaps, but it was still hard to do. Am I doing it wrong?
With each passing day, however, I love it more and more. My nails look and feel like acrylics encrusted with a thick, hard layer of chunky glitters and crystals. I can’t believe it costs only about 4 bucks to get my nails looking like this. The funny thing is, looking at my nails made me feel better throughout the day, especially when I was tired and cranky from having to spend 10 hours on campus from 8:30 in the morning.
Can’t wait to try Spellbound next!
Here are some close-ups:

I just got off the phone with my mom who had been anxiously awaiting news on whether I had gotten into the classes. She wanted to call me for a quick update before she left to celebrate Korea’s Full Moon Harvest aka Chusok.
She started crying when she realized I was finally graduating. As a bonus, I told her about how I had managed to get the requirement waiver signed by one professor, but the Soc office still required an e-mail from him because his class was full. My professor, whom I had before, had said, “I would allow Alienman in any class, regardless of how full it is; she is top notch.” This had totally made my day and I knew it’d have the same effect on my mom.
Happy Chusok everyone!

I am alienman. Writing a small blurb about myself is the hardest thing to do. "Blurb" is a funny word.

this looks like looooveeee!!!!! omg omg, do you find that the glitter chunks fall off when you rub against things/? omg omg must go look for it! you’ve totally sold me on it!! <3 you have such pwetty hands….. can we hold hands?
I love it!! I used to wear a lot of glitter nail polish, but I’ve toned it down a bit
Congrats on graduating!!
The polish is gorgeous! I’ve been lemming Cleopatra for the same reason (RFC), but too lazy to make a special trip to Sally’s Beauty Supply here…maybe I should they have a good sale atm I hear.
Did you have to use a topcoat? The only glitter polish I’ve had was Canmake, but it chipped after 2 days even with Seche Vite on top…
Congrats on everything you’ve accomplished with school! I’m so happy for you
Aw, thanks, guys! I still can’t believe that, after this term, I’ll be officially DONE!! I have you guys to thank for showing support and I cannot thank you enough, ever!
I applied one coat of Sally Henson Hard as Nails topcoat, as I do with just about every nail polish I put on. It didn’t chip at all or rub off! I haven’t tried this without topcoat, yet, but maybe I will next time and let you guys know.
I’m usually not a big fan of glitter, but this post just may have changed my mind! I love this color it’s soooo pretty! You have converted me into a glitter lover Alienman hahaha…oh and congrats on almost graduating school, it must feel so good to see the finish line!
Love all the sparkles! So pretty
I wish my cat would let me use her as a display cushion =( And congrats on graduating!
HAHAHA! Oh man. I was pretty tempted by Medallion too, to be honest, but I had never tried a China Glaze glitter polish before, so I didn’t know what to expect. I hedged my bets and only bought one of the glitters, though I definitely plan to go get more.
I initially assumed these were just intended for layering (as in, throwing in a few sparse sparkles on top of another color) but I got OPAQUE glittery coverage in 2 coats with Cleopatra. Bling overkill. If anything, I find that glitter polishes wear really well for me – it’s a bitch and a half to get them off!
Yea, it feels like solid rock! I was thinking I might have to chisel them off with an ice pick hahahaha
I didn’t like the idea of glittery nail polish, either, because I thought it’d look too childish but DAMN YOU MAY you are the economic stimulus for the cosmetic world. And I just might end up getting Cleopatra, too, gah!! I want a sapphire blue one that sparkles like this, too.
RYC: wahh didn’t know it was your picture >< Sorry for using it if youdidn't want me to XD I wish I had more double lids too, wish I could pay for surgery XP And Muffin is 6 months or so old… I'm not really sure lol. She is just a vicious terror and is only nice if she did something bad or if she wants something =(
See everyone knows how BRILLIANT you are! Even the prof!
So YAY!!
Haha!! Those nails are BLING BABBEE!!! Whooo!!! Where’s my sunglasses!? LOL! J/k!! Very nice on you! And what an agreeable display cushion!
Girl it’s gonna be a BITCH to get that off though! LOL!
Yeah! So awesome about your professor! So all the classes are good?!? Woohoo!
Nice glitter, and only $4? Dang… I gotta stop spending more than 500 yen on polish. If I didn’t already have more polish than I can shake a stick at, I’d make a haul the next time I visit the U.S.
I find glitter such a pain to get off though, heh. Maybe if I use a better base coat, it would be easier. But I am far too lazy for things like base coats.

Your nails look so festive. I like that there’s different sizes of glitter. I gotta order those vitamin D pills so I can wear polish too!
wow the golden glitter looks amazing
so tempted to get this
btw, i just found your blog. keep up the good work

ooooh sparkly! love it!!! haha I’m wearing glittery polish as well, but more of a uniform, tiny glitter…but it still makes me smile whenever I glance down at my nails as well.
your professor is awesome – and congrats again on getting into all the classes you needed. isn’t it a great feeling to know that you’ll soon be done, and finally have that degree?
Pretty! Your prof is awesome and I loled at the “I would allow Alienman in my class” comment. It took me a while to realize he did not actually write “Alienman” there
oooooooo prettttty
also.
i didn’t do well with the no-school-on-weekends deal. i still have some reading to finish :X
go buy seche vite, PRONTO! only thing better than glitter polish is glitter polish with a glassy smooth finish (and also drying super fast too).
laura: gah, i have tons of catching up to do on monday. let me know if u wanna get together at a cafe or some place to study
jen: i’ve been eyeing the seche vite for a while. i’ll def. have to check it out. i do like the grainy texture of the glitter pre-topcoat, though. also, could u recommend a good base coat?
omg i nearly tore my fingers off trying to get the nail polish out
I wish there was an easier way to remove glittery polishes. It's the reason why I stopped wearing them, but seeing your pics of Medallion makes me want to go buy some. :/ I went to ULTA b/c I think they used to carry China Glaze, but I think I may have to go to a Sally – I can't remember any Sally's nearby.
Hey, Angela! Thanks for stopping by. Sorry your comment was automatically filtered out by Akismet but I recovered it and I appreciate your visit!
oh hahaha no it's fine. it was just unexpected LOL
Muffin sounds like a little princess!
I use the seche clear base coat. I learned from spray painting things for my major that paints from the same brand work best together. Seems to hold fairly true for polishes too.
Oh, and bluehsu, you should try removing polish with felt instead of cotton. It grips the glitter bits better!
I love that color! How's the staying power?
Hey!!! How have you been!
I think the glitters have superb staying power. The problem is getting it OFF!!! I need an ice pick!
Just get 100% Pure ACETONE (removes artifical nails and polish from natural nails) from any beauty supply, walgreens, big lots store..soak the cotton and let it sit on the nail for a few seconds and rub back and forth and..viola..glitters gone..it can be a bit drying from the acetone but it gets the polish off faster and better than the regular nailpolish removers!!
