Let’s make one thing very clear. If you guys tell anyone I know that I fucking went to FaerieWorlds last July, I will hunt you down and glamour your memory out Southern Vampire style.
As promised, I am finally and hesitantly posting this… EVIDENCE… that I actually paid to attend this disappointing event. You can find all the pix I took here but I’ll post some in this blog.
I was expecting so much more magical than a costumed Saturday Market in the blistering sun with no shade and REALLY BAD music and hosting. I’m definitely going again. Wait, what?
I have to say, though, while some of the paintings and photography were just subpar, a lot of the crafts were amazingly put together and I could totally justify the high prices of each work.

In this heat, it was hard to be impressed with the costumes but there were some who were quite elaborately dressed.

Lots of shops. Actually, pretty much nothing but shops, but I liked how each tent was lavishly decorated with bright and colorful rugs and drapery.

This creepy person went around touching things with her puppet. The vendors loved it. Only in Eugene.

…really?

OMG falsies <3 <3 Too bad you’d need X-RAY VISION to wear them

Yea, I’d totally wear that. WHEN I GO TO BATTLE AN IMAGINARY DRAGON AT THE INSANE ASYLUM.

FEED ME SOOJIYAAAA

I was actually charmed by this. I get charmed by random dumb things.

Hehe. I love the one hugging the belly.

Apparently, hay-soos was a fairy. This guy thought he was a REAL wise ass but his jokes were so lame, every time he told one, a kitten died.

Brian and Wendy Froud. He is apparently a renown fairy artist. He believes in fairies and claims to see them. I’ll have what he’s having.

I should have taken this guy’s card. His craftsmanship is AMAZING.

OMG I WANT <3

I was hoping to get more costume shots but most of them looked like generic costumes from costume warehouses and I was too shy to ask people to pose.

I don’t know what those guys were supposed to be but they were wandering around trying to look freaky. This and the creepy puppeteer were the only off-stage performances I saw. All the on-stage ones were just really crappy music.

My first taste of Kava Tea. The only reason I even got it was because the girl who served it was breathtakingly beautiful. She reminded me of a younger Inara Serra. I’m not teh ghey but she had me smitten.
Kava is supposed to soothe the nerves and enhance your senses without impairing them.
All it did was make me super thirsty and numb my tongue. It was fun to try something new, though.

Things got way prettier at night. I couldn’t get pictures of the whole tents b/c I only had a point-and-shoot camera, but the tents were so pretty and fairy tale-like in shape and lighting! I could be making this up and you would never know!

Beautiful dolls. I want to make my own polymer clay doll.
I can honestly tell you it was like nothing I have experienced before.
We decided it was a good time to leave when they gathered everyone and made us howl at the moon.
I am alienman. Writing a small blurb about myself is the hardest thing to do. "Blurb" is a funny word.
GoldfishCake is NOT accepting sponsors or advertising at this time.

looks like fun! and wow, that’s a cool dragon!
Wow i wish we have stuff like this in Vancouver! All we have here are anime conventions, which get boring. How much did it cost to get in? I would’ve loved to go!!!
“I’m not teh ghey but she had me smitten”
-> I was laughing so hard at this line! That was one beautiful event. I’m not into this type of thing but OMGee!!!
I want to try one of those impossible fake eyelash sets!
Brian Froud is an amazing artist! I used to look at his books all the time when I worked at Borders! LOL! I’m not too into fairies, but lol! I didn’t even know an event like this existed!
Seriously a younger Inara?! Omg… could you imagine if they had a matching Mal by her side too?! lol! I’m a dork. You do know that is one of my FAVORITE shows right?
GLAMOR ME SOUTHERN VAMPIRE STYLE!!! O_O
*snickers* mehehehe… you went to fairy land.. faerieworld … mehehehe *snicker*
Ooh..that place u went looks so cool…
This kinda rules something awesome.
the craftsmanship looks really awesome – i like teeny tiny things that have no use except to look adorable and cute on display
I used to love faerie art (I have a few prints/cards somewhere) but I don’t really follow much anymore…at least it made for really interesting people watching!
I want amazing turquoise peacock feather wings. I will wear them everywhere. That is all.
“I’m definitely going again. Wait, what?” hahahaha. great post. next time i’ll be sure to attend the country fair instead of this again
we should try to make some faerie houses !!
Hell yea. I definitely want to try my hand at making one of those faerie house lanterns. I think they’d make great balcony decor!
I won’t tell anyone, it’ll be our little secret…lol! Don’t worry I’ve wanted to go to ComiCon haha!
