Greetings from your resident Alien!

I come to post here in the middle of this godforsaken night to tell you that I am the luckiest woman in the world!

That’s right. I am here to RUB IT IN YOUR FACE.

And I am deleting and retyping because I am still tipsy from one cocktail and one glass of ridiculously sweet dessert wine. Holy crap. I’m not drinking that wine anymore. I don’t even remember what it’s called, so I’ll probably end up drinking it again the next time I ask for a recommendation on wine. Crap.

Am I really still intoxicated or am I just using the alcohol as an excuse to type out a meaningless and silly entry?

BUT LOOK AT THIS CHEESECAKE

The wine I had with it was too sweet for me but the cake was like WORLD TRAVEL IN MY MOUTH minus the jet lag. WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?!

I can’t remember what was in it but I do recall the taste of ginger, squash bread, mint pearls (those little round things are mint pearls! MINT PEARLS! I’m too much of a hick to even know such a thing exists. THIS BLOWS MY MIND. It’s like if heaven made edible soap bubbles…), sake…. and the cheese, of course.

Actually, this cake has little to do with why I’m lucky, but you know by now that I am the Queen of Digression.

I was finally able to access my grades today. Bastards held out on me this past two weeks because I didn’t do the stupid course evaluations online. THEY SHOULD MAKE THAT ILLEGAL. It’s MY GRADES. I should get to see them the moment they are posted REGARDLESS of whether or not I evaluated their courses! ROAARRRRR!!! SNARLLLLL!!!! *sneeze*

Anyway, much to my elation, I discovered I had two As and an A-plus. My GPA for the term is a 4.10. FOUR POINT ONE OH?!?!? IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE?!?!?! I dare not question it. What if I were like, “Hey, that’s great. I didn’t know a 4.1 was even possible,” and some staff member overheard me and were like, “Oh, woops!” and dinged off that point-one? So, shhhHHhhhHHHHhhhHHHHhhh. Yea, actually, I made my rounds and made sure everybody knew about my 4.1 before the afternoon.

But it’s not because of the grade that I call myself lucky. I am lucky because I had the right people in my life who gave me the strength and encouragement to make it possible.

Thank you, Lyllye, for appearing in my life and giving me the much needed guidance and counseling. On that day I first met you, I was so sure that it was far too late for me to redeem myself and I had only sought an advisor with the intention of confirming that I was a lost cause. Instead, you were the voice of hope and you were my anchor every single time afterward when I felt lost again.

Thank you, Partner in Crime M, for devoting your time as my library and workout buddy (as well as in other things) to ensure that my time was spent productively and with vast amounts of enjoyment. If it weren’t for you, I probably wouldn’t have gotten much work done at all.

AND I must thank my boyfriend for the millionth time and RUB IT IN YOUR FACES how lucky I am to have a man who loves me without condition and is happiest when he knows I am happy. Every single morning, he would wake up two hours before my first class started and he would drag me kicking and screaming to every single one of my classes. I’m not even exaggerating and this is the story I tell pretty much everyone until their ears bleed. He would draaaag me out of bed, draaaag me to the car, put up with my whining and moaning the entire time, ignore my pleas to let me skip class “just this once”, push me out the door… omg… I am PITIFUL without him… Thus, he made sure I didn’t miss a single class. He was more of a parent than a boyfriend, LOL… except, you know, we had sex Okay, sorry.

He has been so involved with my academic progress, expressing thrill and such pride whenever I brought home a paper or homework with an A. He’s been bringing up my GPA all day, you’d think he was the one who took these classes. It won’t be long before he gets one of those bumper stickers that says, “Honk if your girlfriend is an over-achiever”, “Proud boyfriend of University of Oregon student” or “My girlfriend got a 4.10 GPA and all I got was this AWESOME BUMPER STICKER”. Holy crap. I’m serious. He probably would get one of those if he could. DON’T GIVE HIM ANY IDEAS.

Oh, and he bought me these sandals

They’re much shinier than in the photo.

I just got done watching an episode of True Blood, so I keep hearing myself talk in a heavy southern twang as I type this. It’s quite bothersome. Make it stop, preez.

I also got a new wide-brim hat.

The one I used to wear, picture below, was in the car for too long and shrank. I didn’t even know that was possible.

I would also show you the swimsuit I got for my upcoming swimming lessons, but maybe another time. I don’t have a photo of it. I might do a separate post about that.
