Weekend Photos

But first, I’d like to address a couple of questions that were asked of me.

1. How does a cat scold you?

That is a good question. I never thought I’d find myself talking about being scolded by a cat.

When we got done unloading the car, we headed toward the front doorstep where Bella sat waiting on her haunches. As soon as we made eye contact, she gave me this reproachful sounding, “Me-yooowwwwww!!!!” and then turned and ran back in. You should have heard the tone. It was clearly in an American accent and could easily be translated as, “You’re taking too long!”

The truth is, Bella owns me, not the other way around. The other day, I was being lazy about cleaning out her litter and she kept meowing and complaining until I followed her to the litter box.  I kid you not. She led me there and ordered me to clean out her litter!

I don’t even know how this role-reversal of master and subservient follower happened. Somehow, I’m the one who got tamed and controlled by a mangy cat and, by golly, I don’t know if I should take this anymore! That’s it. I’m staging a protest.

… after I give Her Majesty a brushing.

2. How do you ground a cat?

I made an unofficial off-blog announcement that Bella was grounded for a week. That’s right. I grounded my cat. Don’t judge me.

By this, I simply mean she is not allowed to use the balcony for a week because I fear her range of movement has now extended beyond the boundaries of the balcony. This past month, she has already jumped off the balcony twice and she never did this before. I am hoping that keeping her away from the balcony for a week will deter this newly discovered behavior.

OMG you people, stop making me talk about my cat. I’m NOT a crazy cat lady. Just because I let her be my master and not the other way around, and I ground her like a teenager and talk to her like she’s a real human being…  OMG this conversation is OVER!  >:T

Now, on to weekend photos!!!  Continue reading to view them (photos taken by boyfwen)

We drove up Pacific Coast Highway (Hwy 101) between Florence and Lincoln, stopping at random beaches along the way. The initial idea was to drive up all day, stay at a motel and drive back down the next day. Instead, we took a detour on Lincoln and drove to Jantzen Beach where we stayed at a friend’s houseboat, the same one where we had gone for this previous occasion.

Here are just a few photos from the trip. You can see more on my boyfriend’s Flickr.

I think this was taken near the Devil’s Punch Bowl. We couldn’t get decent photos of the “punch bowl” formation itself b/c the hole was too dark and the devil was apparently low on punch, HA *slaps knee*.

This, too. Beaches of Oregon are definitely underrated. No matter what time of the year I go, whichever beach it is, it’s never densely populated and the sands are always so clean and soft. Audrie once asked if the sky was always this vibrant blue. The answer is yes, but only when it’s not overcast – which it almost always is during colder seasons. As you can see, the ocean is of gorgeous hues of blue, too.

We had lunch at Newport, Oregon, and walked along the boat docks. Yes, Californians, there is a Newport in Oregon. Yes, Italians, there is a Florence in Oregon. There’s also a Boring, Oregon. Apparently, those who migrated to Oregon mainly comprised people who lacked imagination in naming things.

This tiny little jellyfish was happily swimming about by a barnacle-covered pillar. I was so tempted to reach out and scoop it up but such adventure would be no fun if I could not live to tell about it.

Sea lions were basking in the sun and enjoying the calm waters. Man, those guys are talkative.

This guy passed us by very closely as he swam from boat to boat, apparently indifferent to whether there were people or not. See that attitude? Totally says, “Yea, I don’t care if you’re here.”

Obligatory food shot (pan-fried oysterrrrrssssss omggggggg) taken at Local Ocean Seafoods restaurant in Newport. If I could eat pan-fried oysters and fresh sushi everyday, I would wish for nothing more out of life.

It’s too bad I might need to give up seafood for a while. Something about overfishing? But I want to do the research on this before making any decisions.

Thanks for reading!

Nice pictures, look like you have a good weekend so far!

I LMFAO when I read about you and your cat. Bella is smart, I give her that. Cats are really independent and can be funny (although they don’t know that.)

    Beautiful photos of the beach.
Might I ask what kind of camera your other half uses?
