Second in line to this week’s series of cleanser-bashing is:
Garnier Nutritioniste Nutri-Pure Detoxifying Cream Cleanser
Clearly, your name is much too long for your own good. I trusted you because I thought you had a decent hair care line. However, the only means, by which you live up to the standards that Fructis has set, is smelling like it… and the bottle looking too much like the styling gel we happen to have by the same exact company.
The scent is too heavy, first of all. The look and consistency of the product, combined with the fruity smell, made me freak out, thinking I was using their styling wax by accident. Like I said before, even the tubes look exactly alike and I’ve grabbed the wrong one to the shower on a few occasions.
Clearly, this product is patronizing me by pretending to do my mind great justice. First, it encourages the assumption that I always read the labels before reaching for the right product, thereby avoiding the chaos of slathering hair wax on to my already acne-prone face. Then, it expects me to remember the entire length of its name.
Are you fucking kidding me? Your cleanser doesn’t even “detoxify” so give us all a break and cut the name in short. So, this brings us to the most important point, which I should have gotten to at the beginning of all this needless rambling.
See, I’ll give it this much credit. This stuff works better than Cetaphil in the dirt/makeup removal department. That’s why I thought it was working well. My standards had stooped so low with the use of Cetaphil. I did not have to rely on other products to remove all the makeup and dirt from my face, but I did have to use TWO applications of Garnier each time I washed my face. Otherwise, my toner-soaked cotton ball would find residue. After you rinse from the first wash, you have to apply and wash a second time to be completely cleansed.
Then, I tried a sample by Shiseido. Then I thought, well, maybe I can’t expect a cleanser to be THIS effective in cleansing unless it’s a high end brand. Then, I tried Biore and Aveeno. Then, I realized Garnier Nutritioniste Nutri-blabalblablablablabla was utter crap, but only less so than Cetaphil.
You get a C, Garnier, but it’s a C+ because I like how you make my boyfriend smell all fruity at nighttime. I also have to consider that you never made me break out, nor have I ever felt too dry after use, but I don’t feel generous enough to raise you another grade, so I’ll make it a C++.

How much does this product cost? Probably not cheap…right? You remind me to do a review on the cleanser that I use, so now I go do that..thx, byebye. (I feel like a moron writing this comment, because I just rewrote a comment I wrote, but that didn’t go through because I didn’t put my e-mail in, hence sounding very fake…)
…also..what kind of hell name is that..”nutri-pure detoxifying cream cleanser”? Kind of misleading…..
can I make a product recommendation?
PLZ PLZ PLZZZZZZZ PLZZZZZ!!!
but seriously TRY IT TRY IT OMG OMG OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111111111111111111111111
Payot 3-in-1 cleansing wipes, removes theatrical makeup with a single sheet of wipes.. my personal fave on sets as a mua. PLZ TRY IT!! I LOVE IT! I WUD MARRY IT IF I CUD MARRYYY ITTT.. it cleanses and tones so you remove makeup while cleaning out your pores then tightening them. So no need for toner BUT you need to moisturise after because it can be a bit drying, unless your skin is oily then you might like the drying
Omg just looking at the name makes me want to go to bed! Haha.
I also don’t like Garnier’s packaging colors, it’s not exactly the kind of comforting color that I’d like to see when I use before bedtime… xD
dang, i’m skipping on this one!
Haha, I’m LMAO reading this post ^_^ You are hilarious, girl! I’ve never used any of Garnier skin care products because they’re all scented and I prefer stuff I put on my face to be scent-free. Fructis is really good and their hair styling products don’t make me break out along the hair line.
LOL!
What a effen fantastic review!!
I need a new facewash so this is all extremely helpful in the hunt!
ann: actually, it wasn’t expensive. i always compare prices when buying drugstore brands and this one, at the time, was cheaper by the ounce than most of the others. maybe that’s why it sucks, haha.
feryx: haha, whoa, there! breeeeeathe! thanks for the rec
do u rinse after using the wipes??
Ya know that Garnier skincare doesn’t get a whole lotta good reviews… Maybe they should stick to hair care only…
(is it weird that you use wordpress.org, but it doesn’t sign me in?)
I’m glad for your review =DDD! I was actually considering this. But recently I’ve discovered Dove Beauty Bar (I’m a bad girl, I use it on my face, but I’m not sensitive or acne prone) and I’m loathe to go back because it’s cheap and multi-purpose. PS: just went through your most recent posts and I needed a good laugh cause of an a$$ of a seller on Amazon (literaturopolis — never buy from him. tell everyone you know) and well… your blog worked. <333 and cookes all around!
thanks for the informative post
I bought this because my normal cleanser, Neutragenia Foaming Fash Wash, was out of stock. Imagine my surprise when I got home and actually read the label – WTF? Who makes a face cleanser THAT YOU CAN’T USE AROUND YOUR EYES???? Hellooooooooo??? Waste of money. I haven’t even opened it and if I could find the frickin’ receipt, it would be returned. BTW, I highly recommend Neutragenia Foaming Fash Wash…it is safe to use anywhere on your face!
