Alienman is home again

I have returned today from a 4-night, 5-day stay at Las Vegas.  I am too tired to blog much and I probably won’t be getting into much of the details of the trip in future blog entries.  However, I will answer any and all questions regarding the trip that you guys may have.

In short:

  • We stayed at Mandalay Bay
  • I did not partake in any gambling.  That is, unless you count the crossing of fingers and swearing in vexation at uncooperative monorail ticket vending machines.  Mr. Alien hates all things gambling with a venomous passion and, although I was free to do what I wished with my own change, I did not want to sit at a slot machine by myself.  After all, I had only wanted to do this for fun, but could not see the fun of doing this alone.
  • We saw Le Reve and the Blue Man Group.  We were not disappointed in the least.
  • We now understand why the Treasure Island street show is free.
  • My favorite buffet is the Bayside Buffet breakfast at Mandalay.
  • The 17th was our 2-year anniversary.  It was celebrated with ridiculously overpriced room service and the most amazing smoothies and creme brulee I’ll ever have eaten in my lifetime.  I cannot imagine a better way to celebrate a 2-year anniversary.
  • A mere $20 discreetly handed to the front desk clerk can get you upgraded from the smallest room to a spa suite.  Your own spa tub everyday eliminates the want to try out their spa.  It also makes you too lazy to do much more than sit in that tub for hours.  I’m still dizzy from hot-tub o.d.
  • I got my first Brazillian wax done.  You people who do this on a regular basis are fucking insane. FUCKING INSANE.  Seriously, if I had known it’d hurt half as much, I would never have done it.
  • Sales tax is the devil.  I don’t know how you non-Oregon folk deal with paying that with every purchase you ever make.
  • Eugene and Portland is really laid back about personal appearance.  That extends as far as weight management.  Having visited Seattle and Las Vegas, I am now more determined than ever to lose my “college fat”.  By “more determined than ever”, I mean I’ll give it a try for more than a week this time HAHA.
  • My cat likes to overeat and vomit all over the freshly vacuumed carpet when no one’s around.
  • I swear, I didn’t even notice the difference in how clean Oregon’s air is until I stepped out of the Eugene Airport and could SMELL the clean, green freshness in the air.  Even the sun shone with such clarity.  It was like watching the sky in HD after having spent a week watching it in your grandma’s 1970s TV set.  I was so reluctant to leave this morning but seeing all the green at home and smelling the clean air made me glad to be home… as did the knowledge that a price as tagged is all you pay without being derailed after your post-tax total comes up.
Now that I’m back, you can expect more useless content filling up this domain.  Photos selected by Mr. Alien can be seen here.  Alienman is taking her time Photoshopping her fat pix uploading her selection.

I’m so happy you had fun in Vegas! You brought your cat with you as well? How can she over eat? Maybe the food was really tasty for her? Wow, a room with a spa tub is so cool, I would sit in the tub all day as well.

Brazilian wax eh? Is that the ‘all gone’ or the ‘landing strip’ (conflicting literature over this side of the pond)?

hey alienman, i’ve got a question if you don’t mind :)

you know how you mentioned how oregon has no sales tax? since that probably means that the state govt taxes another thing, what other stuff is “high tax” to make up for the “no sales tax”? im really curious. I was wondering if there’s any “catch” to the no sales tax, such as house land tax or something….or tax on food …iono. Please enlighten me XD thank you :)
