Some of you are having problems with the comment form. Since this is what some of you have told me, I’m going to assume this applies to the rest of you… otherwise, my move to this domain has somehow led to a severe decline in readership. Not that I’d blame you. Even I can’t stand reading the garbage that I’ve been vomiting here, lately.
The boyfriend and I are not experiencing this problem w/commenting, though, so we aren’t able to figure out what the problem is. If it doesn’t trouble you, I would appreciate some detailed feedback on what exactly happens. Er… I guess I’d also need to know what version of which browser you’re using and what OS and such.
I’m sorry about the problems, guys!
I’m also sorry about the lack of substantial updates here. I’m keeping things low-key for a while, not just because I’m flat broke, but also because I’ve got the boyfriend’s upcoming bday and our 2-year anniversary to save up for.
Haha, remember how I complained about how the boyfriend would never want to go to Vegas with me? If you read the comments, you’ll see that the boyfriend read it and was :*( about it. Turns out, I misunderstood him and was just quick to make assumptions, a ha ha ha, silly me
So, the boyfriend is taking Alienman to Vegas @_@
Hope he doesn’t leave me there D:
For those of you living in places down south, this may not be as big a deal but for us Northwest-folk, Vegas trips are not so easy to plan out. Therefore, I’m going to need all the tips and advices I could possibly get!
This is a 5-day trip (a monday thru friday in september) and I have no idea what wardrobe to prepare! @_@
I’m especially worried about shoes. My poor feet have gotten so sensitive lately and finding cute AND comfortable shoes is like finding elves and fairies; it’d be nice, but chances are highly unlikely.
Argh, the worries, worries and worries! I’m probably going to have to update on this topic with a well-organized list of questions.
For now, though, I’m just curious to know. What are your 5 must-sees/must-dos/must-trys of Las Vegas?
If you can’t leave a comment below, feel free to e-mail me at djalienman at g ma i l dot c o m!
I am alienman. Writing a small blurb about myself is the hardest thing to do. "Blurb" is a funny word.

ok I figured it out! lol its nothing related to browsers, since i got it with both IE and Firefox. As long as I don’t enter in a website address it lets me post a comment.
But if I enter a website address I get a question from Blogger asking me if I want to “Tell goldfishcake.com that I own http://watercoloursky.blogspot.com” (err…what?)
Clicking any of the Yes or No choices leads to an error 413 page :S resulting in me losing my laboriously typed comment when I click back. T.T
I don’t really have a top 5, but I must emphasize getting a SUPER NICE hotel. You rarely get to go to Vegas, so don’t stay at a shitty place like Circus Circus or Stratosphere. Stay at an ultra luxe classy hotel like the Luxor or Bellagio or Ceasar’s Palace or MGM Grand, smack dab in the middle of the strip where all the action takes place. I promise it’d be worth it
it’ll still be hot in Vegas, being the desert and all, but it’s kind of tolerable since the air is so dry – if you’re not dressing up too much or anything, get some Reef sandals…I’ve been in love with mine since I got them in June, they’re so comfortable!. Try to see at least one show while you’re there – there are a lot of Cirque de Soleil shows and I’m sure you could find some good deals online ahead of time. Gamble a little, even if you’re just playing the nickel slots for 10 minutes
Oh! Will you be driving there at all? If you are driving, you should definitely plan the trip so that you get to Vegas when it’s dark, and be prepared to gawk a bit – nothing like seeing the city lights all lit up in the middle of the desert. There’s a scene in Swingers where Mikey is sitting in the car as Trent is driving and they approach Vegas, and Mikey’s eyes get all wide and he just can’t stop staring – it’s exactly like that.
This comment was way too long, haha
hope you and your bf have an awesome time in Vegas!
Hmmmm, I left a comment a few days ago and it went through… so I think it’s working for me…
OK, going to try again, and I did fill out the ‘website’ box. Fingers crossed this goes through!
OK, it went through!
This’ll be your first trip to Vegas… HURRAY! Part of the experience IS the lodging, so if you have the dough then book a room, or suite
, someplace nice. I’d recommend staying right on the strip and obviously booking early. If you know anyone who goes to LV regularly and gambles a lot, perhaps they can help get you rooms comped (I’ve done that). If you really don’t care about staying in a room with a T.V. in your shower, then just find a place smack dab in the middle, like the Imperial Palace. They’re pretty affordable, many of my college friends have stayed there as have I, and it’s right in the center of all the action. Why do you want to be as close to the strip as possible? Driving around there is madness. And you may be drinking. Making sure everything is within walking distance is a very good idea. (Btw, if you walk the strip drunk you won’t even notice how agonizingly long it is.) Definitely gamble some (drinks are free), see if you can get tickets to a show (Cirque de Soleil?), try to hit every major casino (each one is themed), eat at least one buffet meal, and take lots of pictures!
Btw, I’m planning on going in September, too!! Wouldn’t it be WILD if we met up??
I’m not sure when exactly, but plans are in motion. Actually, it was just my bf saying, “We’re going to Vegas in September!” It’ll happen. I’m just not sure if September’s the time and where we’ll be staying.
Dude… September’s a good time to go. It might still be a little hot, but it should be cooling down. My experience is if you don’t want to go when it’s too hot or too cold, is April or October. Trust me I’ve been there in the middle of June (MELT CITY), and xmas/new years (FREEZE THE ARSE OFF). Well here’s my 5.
1)Eat at a fricken Olive Garden!! (we ain’t got one here)
2)Shop at Target (we ain’t got one here)
3)Hit up the Bellagio Dinner Buffett!! OMG!!!
4)HIt up the Beef Jerky Store in Downtown by the Freemont Experience (Jerkys of all kind, and some fave Hawaii local snacks)
5)Hit up Tropicana’s for some Deep Fried Oreo’s & Twinkies!
6)Hit up a Krispy Kreme either Downtown or in the Excalibur (we ain’t got one here)
Damn… Mine’s all about food… Vegas is FUN!! There is so much to do, you’ll find something. Great shows, exhibits, and even just wandering around the Hotel/Resorts is great. Seeing all the different themes and how they decorate! I love Vegas. Can’t you tell?!
You definitely want to try out the Asian buffet at the outlet. I think it’s called Makino or something like that. It’s soo good!
Howdy,
your blog sends some people to mine, so I paid a visit. I am a veteran of Vegas since I used to live in Los Angeles, but my top 5 are… hm, how shall we say… not lady-friendly. But I’ll be happy to share if your bf is interested
