I was going to work on a new false lashes application tutorial but am unable to do anything w/my eyes for a while due to an allergic reaction to heavy usage of benzoyl peroxide. I had stopped using it for a while (cuz I ran out haha) and getting back on it came with a price. I’ll have to give up on bp for a while and probably shift my testing to Top Gel after I’ve let my skin take an R&R from new products.
I had been really slacking on the whole work out thing with a million excuses to back me up. It turns out, however, all I had to do was start flipping through Japanese teen fashion magazines to get myself working out again.
Once I got back from the gym yesterday, I resumed going through July’s issue of Cawaii, kindly provided in high quality zip here. There was one feature that caught my eye and I could NOT stop looking at it over and over again. I found the transformation of the model so dramatic that I just HAD to share it with you guys.
I don’t speak a word of Japanese, nor can I read a single character, but the visual aid is awesome. Still, if anybody is willing to take the time to translate these, you’d forever be my object of love and affection.
Here’s the before pic of the model.

She’s obviously wearing SOME makeup and hazel contacts. I also have to say, she’s rather cute!
Here are her two “after” looks:

Eh-whotttt??? (Imagine me saying that in the voice of the Professor from Futurama)
This is beyond a makeover. This is like putting on a disguise so that nobody could recognize you. This is the kind of makeovers that secret spy agents would undergo. This is SO FRICKEN COOL.
Not to say she’s “prettier” now. She was always pretty, I think. I just love the fact that one could easily undergo so much change based on eye makeup technique.
Most of the emphasis goes on her false lashes. Everything else was applied with subtlety in natural tones so that the makeup wouldn’t look so heavy. The choice, positioning and application of the falsies, though. Wow. In the left one, she actually uses three different false lashes. One for the bottom, of course, and two for the top.

For the top, she uses the full length of a spiky kind of falsie. Then, they chop off the outer end of a very full falsie, then overlap that outer end over the spiky full-length that’s already applied on her eyelid. The bottom lashes (not shown above) is applied in the same way mentioned in my last post about Japanese looks; it’s positioned a few notches below the actual lower lash line.
What, you thought I’d be all talk and no visual aid? Ho ho, don’t worry, I uploaded the feature scans and you can click on the images below to view larger sizes and even download them. If you want the whole magazine, go here.
Talk about heavy duty. I don’t know if I even want to consider doing this in this heaven-forbidden heat. I don’t even want to put on ONE pair of falsies, cuz it’s so damn melty. Yet, this looks like a LOT of fun to play around at home. I’m kind of hesitant about overlapping falsies (but I’ll try this in the name of beauty blogging HA). I know someone who has gotten so addicted to false lashes that she now layers two at a time over her top eyelids. It looks kind of gross, especially since she wears mascara on them. Yick. This one doesn’t look so bad, though. They’re only using the very ends of the second one.

yeah, that double falsie technique looks hard, esp for us monolids who dont have much lid space contributed to area for false lashes! hehe
wow, that transformation is amazing! that would be my type of makeover – sometimes i just want to look like a different person for a day.
i dunno if i could take those multiple lashes though – my eyes would feel really heavy and tired quickly.
Wowee yeh she was cute either way, dya reckon she’s had her lids done?!

Oooh… I shall try this tomorrow! Maybe not the double falsies. Too much work in this heat.
Wow, I really should start playing with falsies more..I just recently butchered the only pair I had.
you should check out this blog for some pics– http://japanesefashionstyle.blogspot.com/
unfortunately, it’s not being updated anymore…
haha: holy crap, i’m totally bookmarking that. thanks
CONNIEEEE: good to see you here! falsies are FUN omg they’re like little costumes
fei: omg if you do that you HAVE to post FOTDs. I WANT TO SEE!!!
coco: i wouldn’t be surprised. it’s kind of the norm nowadays, isn’t it? then again, i don’t know how prevalent cosmetic surgery is in japan. i know that even high school students are doing it now in korea.
blue: yea, i stopped wearing falsies to work cuz i’d always feel more tired lately… thanks to my dear friend Sleep Apnea -_-
nai nai: hmm, i never considered that lid space would be an issue for layering false lashes… i’ll have to try it out myself and see… once my eyes are back to normal that is
hmmmmmm… me thinks i will have to try layering of two lashes because it looks really good on that girl. i have hazel contacts too so i actually wanna try and dupe the look! haha. yay. thanks for the inspiration.
hehe.
Yes yes, layering two lashes is a regular thing for me. Though, I never put on mascara.
If I ever needed to disappear and be a secret agent, I would just wander around with no make-up on. I am utterly unrecognizable!!
on one photoshoot, i glued a pair of lashes together and then put them on a girl…but not separately…it looks good on film but not sure in person…but it’s worth a try eh? is it just me or does she look a lil cross eyed in the first makeover pic, he he, but she looks really cute though…i like how they show the techniques of the lashes…cuz you know i love me some lashes!
How the hell did she suddenly get bj lips…
THIS IS SO FREAKIN COOOOOLLLLLLLLLL!!! I’ve started using falsies more often now! yay!
wow very pretty results but it’s TOO MUCH work for me, lol
Wow! She defintely looks younger in the ‘after’ pics. But 2 sets?! Dang! I can’t even get 1 set of invisibands on w/o it being wonky!
You always give such insight into the Jap fashion/beauty world, for me anyhow… Keep it coming!
And sooo looking forward to the last tut!
She IS Cute! I am so jealous of those Korean and Japanese gals that have the whole big eyed look going on!
gahhh i so badly want to try! damn my inability to use falsies!
i wanna know what kind of lip plumper she’s using~ ha.
i have monolids..but if i position my falsies not DIRECTLY on my lash line..but with the middle slightly above..but the ends still near/on the lash line. i get double lids like the girl in the picture. and i’ve got fatty monolids too!
cheesecake and xppinkx: haha i actually wonder if her lips on “before” were made to look small on purpose. don’t you find it odd that the shadow of her lip falls way below her actual lower lip?? hmmm! then again, why would they do that…
and yea, i have bulgy monolids that crease up depending on how i apply falsies +_+
hmm. she got collagen injected into her lips, too. definitely not the same lips from the before pic. actually, i loooove her plump lips!!!
i’m with kayebee on the secret agent thing. no one would recognize me either with no makeup on at all.
holy….she looks different.
