Someone had found my very first entry on ABB and had requested a tutorial for the look. Thank you for the request, Lovelixir. I haven’t done this look in a long time and probably changed a few steps, but I hope you like this! If not, please lie and tell me you did T_T Haha, j/k, j/k. If there’s anything you think should be done differently, though, go for it
And remember to let me know what adjustments you made!
The picture in that old entry is blurry but you can still tell there’s a clear distinction between my bare eye and my made-up eye.
Basically, I’m going to show you how I go from this:
To this:

Ah, yes, there is my naked eye again. Hello, there, Eye. You’re looking a little tired today. Long day at work? No? Too much Sonic DS? HO ho ho~

Apply highlight on brow bone. Here, I used the white from my Physician’s Formula Baked Collection Baked Sugar trio.

Next up! Prestige Eyeshadow in Ebony. ChristianaDivine asked me how I liked Prestige eyeshadows and, to be honest, I don’t like how it blends. Depending on the brush you use, the color payoff can be great, but with colors like this black one, it’s hard for me to get even coverage, so I have to blend like crazy.

So, like an eyeliner, I’m going over my lashline with this. This is important for monolids because this gives us the depth and dimension that double-lids give, without a harsh restricting eyeliner effect.

Extend Ebony to the outer corner of your eye, ending and blending just out to the bone of the eye socket. What?

Did I also fill in the outer lower rim? You bet I did.

Here, we have Prestige Eyeshadow in Verdigris. If I had brushed up on my French before buying this and realized it means green-gray, I might not have bought it, haha. Indeed, if not careful, it just looks muddy, like I’m using a dirty brush or something.

Yea, right here, baby. You know how I like it, uh, uh~ Wow, what is wrong with me…
Initially, I was going to leave the eyeshadows as thus b/c that’s how it is up in the first entry, but – maybe it’s the mood or what – it just felt bland. So, I thought I’d brighten it up with some NYX Yellow Pearl .

Jesse’s Girl Eye Dust loose shimmery powder, applied with a wet cotton swab. Applied to inner corners and along the inner 2/3 of lower rims.

Smoothed out the shimmer and added eyeliner to upper lash line and just at the outer end of the lower lash line. If small eyes is a complex of yours, I urge you to avoid lining the entire lower rim. It will only make your eyes seem smaller.

Used crappy “volumizing” mascara for lower lashes only.

Applied Missha Dolly Eyelash false lashes in XL. This is usually too long for me but it shows up better in the photos than what I usually use, so for this tutorial, I’m using the XL.

Applied Imju Fiberwig Mascara to lower lashes. This usually works best if used over a volumizing mascara.
Aaaand, here’s the result.
Dang, these lashes make my eyes look HUGE.
That zit scar seems to have turned into a permanent discoloration
It’s been almost a year!
With flash.

Thanks for reading this guys and, for those of you who actually read the whole thing, kudos! @_@
Lovelixir, I hope this tutorial helped.

arashi: kekeke, i was a lurker for a while, too, before posting on ABB
i think i started posting when i got fed up with monolidders all talking like the only solution to monolid makeup was eyelid glue
well, that’s what it seemed like at the time
i think snowkei was a huge inspiration for me and i still like to lurk her fotds
(g): haha, thanks! the lashes look good in the pictures but when i look in the mirror, they look so… in YO FACE @_@… and when i wear shorter lashes, they look perfect, but they don’t even show in my pictures T_T

HI Alienman,
Where can I get the Missha Dolly Eyelash false lashes at? Are there any retail stores that sell this?
Thanks!
me wanta missha lashes nowww…i second fabu-less, where do you get them? i really like how you added the nyx shadow, it really gave it an extra lil zing, i almost forgot i have fiberwig…i’m going to start using it on my bottom lashes.
i adore this look on you. :] your eyes really pop out with. gorgeous.
Phew~ wow, a lot of feedback on this today @_@ Thanks, guys!
fabu-less: Unfortunately, Missha lashes are not available in the U.S. However, all Korean brands use a universal system of coding for types of lashes and I’m sure they all have their XLs. A similar type is the XN. I think some Asian stores, especially in well-populated cities like L.A., might carry Korean brands like Darkness or Echo. Sorry I’m not of much help
renren: I never wear false lashes w/o adding fiberwig to my lower lashes now hehe. It feels unbalanced w/o it.
aww, thanks bliss!!
you guys are so sweet for coming in here and lavishing on the compliments haha
thanks so much
They dont do NYX in UK >_< how crap is that??! i have seen some NYX cosmetic on ebay which i might snap up tho... they havent released L'Oreal's HIP line here either (UK gotta be the slowest when it comes to cosmetics release!).. its very pigmented, i would imagine more HIP then!?
yeah I’m exited about the BB creams too, i’ll def post the pics when i get them =D
thanks for linking me!!
ooh those lashes are adorable on you! lol you make the cutest faces
petitebelle: yea, i think this “ulzzang” thing is getting contagious and i can’t stop myself from making weird cutesy faces
i almost want to delete that one w/me biting my lip haahaha omg makes me wretch -_-
Love it! I really like how you work with your monolids. It’s a great resource for girls who have monolids; if I had found your blog a few year’s earlier when I had monolids, you would’ve been my idol!
awwww, emilee, thank you! such a sweet thing to say
Hey girl, this looks amazing!
Man Im soo glad you are motivated to help us monolid sisters out ! hahaha Hmmm but Im not sure if you would call my eyes monolids…well they are but I have like extra skin on eyelid so you could say I have MATURE monolids, I know its weird…..oh well, BUt Im all about being natural and working and flaunting what your momma gave you! Great look
christal: Hey, you’re so gorgeous you NEED to flaunt what your momma gave you! That’s an order! Hehe. Thanks for dropping in and showing some monolid love, christal!
hi alienman
I was wondering if you can do a review on jesse’s girl’s products? ive always been tempted by all the bright colors but i can’t find their product reviews anywhere :[
hi alienman!
i’ve been following your blog for a while (thru vanessa) and i like your blog. i hope its okay to link u up
-teng from manila
alexis: So far, I’ve only tried their shimmer dust. I’ve always been interested in trying more stuff out but the only place that carries them that I know of don’t carry a whole lot. I do want to try out their eyeshadows sometime. When I do, I’ll make sure to do a review on them. Thanks for the request!
Teng: Hey, thanks!! I’ll be sure to return the linkage
It’ so sweet of you to come in and say such sweet things
Thanks again Alienman for the tutorial!
I don’t have the exact products you used but I’ll try doing it with what I have, hopefully it’ll turn out to be similar enough. BTW does it matter if I apply eyeliner before or after the eyeshadow? I usually do eyeliner before everything else.
lovelixir: Glad you like it
The colors don’t have to be similar. I use this technique for almost all the colors I use. I don’t see why using eyeliner first would be a problem
Let me know how this worked!
:O Those false eyelashes and mascara makes all the difference. And the way you applied the makeup seems better this second time around.
bl0b: Yea, you can tell it’s a gradual learning process when you follow the timeline of the FOTDs lol. I also recall how messy the look was the first time I did this look and omg how long it took! haha Thank you for stopping in to comment
I appreciate the kind feedback
awww, look at how darling you look! and i don't think those lashes are too long at all. they're perfect!!!
