A few weeks back, I had purchased a blush, lip gloss and eye shadow with a free sample kit from Everyday Minerals.
I had heard rave reviews about Everyday Minerals, but for someone who has poorly textured skin like me from past and present acne scarring and pitting, the foundation fails to meet my needs in the coverage area. I love that it comprises a purer blend of ingredients than Bare Minerals, but this won’t do me much good if it doesn’t match up to BM’s great coverage on my skin. Funny thing, some have testified to having experienced better coverage with EM, while the experience for others have concurred with mine.
The Good China Eyeshadow is decent for a highlighter. It’s a shimmery pale nude so it gives off a subtle sheen. I sometimes use it to highlight my cheekbones as well.
The blush in Sunday Brunch turned out to be a rather bold so I had to really, really, really blend a small amount if I didn’t want to look like a clown. The EM website describes it as “a delicious raspberry sorbet shade that is ideal for all skin types. Just the right matte finish that you can dress up or dress down. A versatile and must have color for every occasion.” Guess I had to really dress it down, lol. I don’t know about it being ideal for all skin types, but it actually was a good color for me once it was adequately applied.
The lip gloss in Spring Pink is as opaque as lipstick and smells like one, too. I was hoping for something natural, but this color turned out a bit too bright, especially if coated more than once. I’m going to try mixing it with various pigments and blushes to make it work better. As far I can see, there only seem to be six shades of lip gloss for EM. I’m looking forward to new shades especially because I’m liking the texture, if anything. It’s not sticky nor greasy, but smooth. Should be worn over lip balm.
And from last week:
After reading Fei‘s post on Maybelline Superstay Lipgloss, I purchased one in what I think is called Shimmery Wine. I can’t remember for the life of me and it doesn’t say on the tube.
I had been wanting to try a crimson shade but had failed on various occasions to find the right shade for me. I finally found a shade I liked but, omg, it’s sooooo much brighter than ANYTHING I’ve ever tried. I put this on just before heading to work and I almost contemplated taking it off. I loved the color but I was too self-conscious about wearing it in public. Still, I braved myself and shooed myself out the door. Much to my pleasure, my coworkers complimented me on the color. Still, you won’t be seeing me wear this too often.
I’m telling you, the color seemed to pop out more than it looks on these pictures.

I am alienman. Writing a small blurb about myself is the hardest thing to do. "Blurb" is a funny word.

I’ll get sued for copyright infringement, but “that’s hot!”
I don’t have much experience with eyeshadow, but I do love bold lipstick colors. One thing that really helps to tone down the brightness while keeping the color is by blotting with a tissue. I don’t know how well that works with lipgloss, but it really works with my bright lipsticks.
i love sunday brunch blush, but yeah i always have to be super careful not to get too much on the brush. using a skunk brush does help though.
i think the red glos looks great, but i know what you mean about it looking way more bold in real life. i still haven’t had the courage to wear bold colours out, plus my bf doesn’t dig the red lip look anyway.
zero, the color eventually did tone down after a few hours (so much for “SUPERSTAY”.. more like “MOSTLYSTAY”)
it was quite the dilemma. on the one hand, it was frighteningly bright, but on the other hand, i liked that it was so bright!
arashi, i think i’ll invest in a skunk brush (i’ve read good reviews on the Lancome one, as opposed to the more expensive MAC one)… everyone’s been raving about them!
you are so talented! I love the way that red looks on you!
