the Monolid Rebellion

I know this may be hard to take in because of the double-lid having somehow become a standard of beauty for all of us Asians. Also, I don’t mean to come off sounding like some lame ”love-who-you-are” pep talker. That’d make me a hypocrite b/c I’m as vain a person as they come. Heck, I believe in the power of make-up and I know I depend on it to make me prettier.

However, I really, really don’t think a girl needs to fake a double-lid to look prettier.

I used to think I was ugly b/c I had monolids and had also considered surgical alteration. So, I don’t blame anybody for thinking they’re ugly for having uncreased eyelids. If anything, I’m sympathetic, which is why I feel the need to communicate this to all my fellow Asian goddesses ;) Let it be known that I have NOTHING against double-lidded people or those who underwent double-lid surgery. I just don’t want people who don’t have double-lids to think that a monolid makes them less attractive.

Lately, I’ve gotten sick of how overly trendy the double-lid has been and that it’s actually harder to see monolids than ever in Korea. Not just in the media, but all over the place, it’s rare to see any girl who hasn’t had eyelid surgery done. So, I’ve decided that the only reason I’d ever do the eyelid surgery is if I get old and my lids get so droopy that I can’t see past them with my eyes open. Haha. I’m serious :|

Also, I’ve sort of experimented with my own method of applying eye make-up because all the tutorials and all the techniques I’ve come across are based on double-lids.

I’ve been looking for some sorta tutorial on how to do makeup for monolids but i’ve noticed the same thing. All “asian eye tutorials” use females with double lids. *sigh* I did find this one though that I’ll definately try tomorrow. Maybe it’ll work for you.
